Some of our Mac users have reported issues with the latest Shuttle for Mac Version 3 (v3) software. Issues are the Shuttle units are not responding properly in their target applications (Premiere, FinalCut Pro, etc.), or do not respond in the Contour Shuttle app itself.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to get the Shuttle software working properly.

1. Check to see if the older Shuttle software (v2.2) is installed. This happens to users who have upgraded or migrated their Macs to Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite from earlier Mac Operating Systems.

Steps to take:

-Open your Applications/Utilities folder and look for the Uninstall Contour Shuttle app. If it's in your Utilities folder, run the app and it will uninstall the older Mac Shuttle software. If you think the older Shuttle software is installed but you don't have the uninstaller, you can download it from our downloads section here on the forum.

-After your Mac reboots, uninstall the v3 Shuttle software by choosing Preferences in the Contour Shuttle menu and clicking Uninstall Contour Shuttle.

-You will need to reinstall the v3 Shuttle software after your Mac reboots after uninstalling.

2. Repair your disk permissions with Apple's Disk Utility. This is regular maintenance for your Mac.

3. Create a new user on your Mac, log out of your current user then into the new user. Launch Safari and see if the Shuttle responds to any of the buttons or dials. Open the Contour Shuttle app in the Applications folder to see if that makes a difference.

Here is another list of things to try if the above doesn't help:

1. Close the Contour Shuttle application.

2. In the Finder hold down the Option (Alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in the main menu bar, then select "Library".

3. Locate the Preferences folder inside the Library folder and open it.

4. Delete (or move to the Desktop) the "com.contourdesign.shuttle.settings.plist" file.

5. Log out (Apple menu in main menu bar, "Log Out Your Name") and log in again.

If these tips don't help, please email us or post in the Shuttle Help forum.

Lastly, if v3.0.34 doesn't work, uninstall and download and install v3.028 ( and see if it works better. You may need to update some of your settings, so visit our Shuttle Settings section here on the forum for the latest settings.
